Vol. 70 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Postal Deliveries.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state why the townland of Ballynoe East, Cappoquin, County Waterford, is deprived of a daily postal delivery when the adjoining townlands enjoy such a facility, and if he will take steps at the earliest possible moment to extend the same privilege to the residents of Ballynoe East.

I have had inquiry made into the question of affording a delivery on six days a week in the Ballynoe East district and I find that the matter has been fully considered in connection with the general revision of postal services throughout the country. It has not been found practicable to provide any increase in the existing frequency of delivery of the post by which the townland in question is served as the present service in the area is maintained at a substantial loss of revenue, and the additional expenditure involved would not, therefore, be warranted. I regret that in the circumstances I am precluded from acceding to the request.
