Vol. 71 No. 12

Written Answers. - County Mayo Congestion.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that acute congestion exists in the townland of Drumganagh East, Manulla, Castlebar, on the D.G. Fitzgerald estate, where there are 14 tenants on the rundale system whose holdings are in several divisions, some three miles apart on the slope of Cruckspulligilaun, whose poor law valuations are under £5; that they have made several applications during the past ten years to the Land Commission for migration, or additions to their holdings; and if he will now state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Land Commission to provide economic holdings for those tenants.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission are aware of the congestion on the estate of C.D.B. (D.G. Fitzgerald) and are having an investigation made as to the possibility of providing additional land for the tenants requiring enlargements to their holdings or of securing relief by migration.
