Vol. 72 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Widening the Stillorgan Road.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if his attention has been drawn to the method adopted by the Dublin County Council in widening the Stillorgan road from Foster Avenue towards Dublin and the introduction of a high concrete curb along the line of widening; and if, in view of the serious menace to traffic on the main road caused by the existence of this curb and the numerous complaints about it, he will engage engineers from his Department to inspect and make a report to him on the matter.

In connection with the widening of this road a central island is being constructed to divide the road into separate carriageways. The kerbs to the island are not yet completed. I understand that when they are completed the position will not be such as represented by the Deputy. The matter will, however, be duly investigated.

Will the Minister say that a fair definition of an island is length without breadth? I was passing the place this morning and on looking at it I found that the island was only 18 inches to two feet wide.

A Deputy

That could be an island.
