Vol. 73 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Boy Messengers.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he has received representations to provide an outlet to the learner class for boy messengers at provincial post offices who are at present ineligible to compete in examinations for such appointments, and if he will state when a decision on the representations will be announced.

The representations referred to have been received. Proposals for the introduction for boy messengers at the smaller offices of a scheme of limited competition for learnerships are at present under consideration.

Is the Minister aware that the representations have been under consideration for nearly two years, and can he give any indication as to when a decision will be announced?

At the earliest possible moment.

Will that be at the end of another two years?

As soon as the matter is finally considered.

How long will that take?
