Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bounties on Agricultural Exports.
As the information requested by the Deputy contains a number of figures, I propose, with the Deputy's permission, to circulate it with the Official Report.
Following is the information:—
Particulars of Bounties Payable on the Export of Agricultural Produce on 1st November, 1938.
Fresh eggs in shell:
Extra selected, selected, medium or ducks—1/- per great hundred; pullet grade-9d. per great hundred.
Cold-stored eggs:
Bounty at the rates applicable to fresh eggs is payable on eggs placed in cold-store before the 1st July, 1938, which are exported between the 1st October, 1938, and the 31st January, 1939.
Eggs not in shell:
Frozen liquid eggs or frozen liquid whites or yolks—5/- per cwt.
Seed potatoes:
Exported to any country other than United Kingdom or U.S.A.—17/6 per ton.
Dairy produce:
(a) Creamery butter:
(1) A combined bounty and subsidy sufficient to bring the net average F.O.R. price to 130/- per cwt.
(2) In the case of unconnected butter (i.e., butter exported at the direction of the Butter Marketing Committee) the net F.O.R. price actually received by the creamery is brought to 130/- per cwt.
(b) Non-creamery butter:
(1) A combined bounty and subsidy of 3/- per cwt. less than the rate applicable to creamery butter.
(2) In the case of non-creamery butter exported as ships' stores or to places outside the United Kingdom in pursuance of a contract entered into on or before the 30th September, 1938, bounty is paid at the rate of 11/- per cwt.
(c) Condensed milk:
Exported to United Kingdom and for ships' stores—11/- per cwt.; exported overseas—9/6 per cwt.
(d) Dried milk powder (full cream only)—12/6 per cwt.
(e) Cheese:
A combined bounty and subsidy sufficient to bring the net average F.O.R. price to 81/- per cwt. in the case of cheese made before the 1st August, 1938, and to 83/- per cwt. in the case of cheese made on or after the 1st August, 1938.

Export bounties and subsidies on industrial products were discontinued as from the 19th May, 1938, and consequently no bounty was payable on the export of articles or products other than agricultural products on 1st November, 1938.
asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amounts paid by way of subsidy and export bounty on each category of industrial products in respect of which such payments were made in each of the years ended 31st March, 1936, 1937 and 1938, and the total amount so paid each year.
