Vol. 73 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Promotions.

asked the Minister for Defence if it is a fact that in the cases of promotions made from the rank of commandant to that of major during the year 1938 none of the officers holding the ten highest places on the seniority list of commandants were promoted; and, if so, if he will state what grounds there were for passing over the officers referred to who were highest on the seniority list of commandants.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The officers who were promoted were considered to be the most suitable.
