Vol. 74 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Retiring Age of Local Government Officials.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if it is still the intention that pensionable officers employed by local authorities should resign their positions on attaining the age of 65; and, if so, whether he will state the action already taken or in contemplation to secure compliance in this matter.

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The matter was brought to the attention of local bodies some time ago. It will be embodied in legislation when a suitable occasion arises.
