Vol. 74 No. 2

Written Answers. - Insurance (Amendment) Act, 1938.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has fixed the transfer date for the purpose of the Insurance (Amendment) Act, 1938, under Section 2 of that Act; and, if so, whether he will state the date so fixed.

The transfer date under the Act has not yet been fixed.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether any proposals for the making of a supplemental agreement under Section 19 of the Insurance (Amendment) Act, 1938, have been formulated by potential adopting companies; and whether such proposals were submitted to and examined by him; and, if so, whether he will state the companies or societies with which such proposals originated.

I understand that negotiations are in progress between the Industrial and Life Assurance Amalgamation Company, Limited, and certain other assurance companies with a view to the formulation of supplemental agreements for a transfer of business pursuant to Section 19 of the Insurance (Amendment) Act, 1938. The proposals for such supplemental agreements have not, however, yet been submitted to me.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any proposals were submitted to him by or on behalf of the Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society for the purpose of transferring their insurance business in Éire under the Insurance (Amendment) Act, 1938; and, if so, whether he will state if any decision has been reached in regard to such proposals.

No such proposals have been submitted to me.
