asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of each county the number of persons provided by the Land Commission with new holdings in each of the calendar years 1934 to 1938 inclusive, and the total of the land included in each such holding.
Written Answers. - Provision of New Holdings.
Mr. Boland
The statistics of the Land Commission have not been kept in such a form as to make readily available the full particulars desired by the Deputy, and it is hoped that the particulars given in the following return showing the number and area of new holdings created during the last three financial years on the division of untenanted land acquired by the Land Commission under the Land Acts, 1923-36, may be sufficient for his purpose. Only in respect of those years has it been practicable to analyse the various resale schemes in such detail as to show new agricultural holdings as distinct from accommodation and turbary plots, etc., as well as apart from enlargements of existing uneconomic holdings. Even for those years it is not practicable to show with precision the classification by counties of lands taken over and divided by way of provisional lettings and such cases are not included in the county totals given in the return.
RETURN showing for each of the years 1935-36, 1936-37 and 1937-38, the Number and Area of New Agricultural Holdings created on the division of Untenanted Land acquired by the Land Commission under the Land Acts, 1923-36.
