Vol. 74 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - References to Prices Commission.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will furnish a return showing the number of references submitted to the Prices Commission on the representations of British industrialists, the classes of commodities affected by such references, the number and character of the cases already dealt with, the outcome of the inquiry in each case, and the period that approximately will elapse before all the references now pending will be disposed of by the commission.

Lists of items referred to the Prices Commission for review in accordance with the Trade Agreement between the Irish Government and the Government of the United Kingdom are published periodically in "Iris Oifigiúil" and "The Irish Trade Journal and Statistical Bulletin," to which I would refer the Deputy.

As regards the third and fourth parts of the question, the Prices Commission has already submitted reports to me in five cases. The reports in two of these cases have been published and effect has been given to the commission's recommendations.

The commission's reports in the other three cases will be published at an early date.

I am not in a position to give the information asked for in the last part of the question.
