Written Answer. - Contractor's Account.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that Mr. Luke Tully, Cortoon, Shrule, contracted in 1937 with the Land Commission to build certain houses for them at Cloghansmore (Costello estate), County Mayo; that he completed the said houses and handed over possession of them to the Land Commission on 17th February, 1937; that the houses are now in occupation of the allottees of the land on which they were erected; and that Mr. Tully is still owed the sum of £103 10s. on foot of his contract for £497 10s. for erection of said houses; and if he will state what is the reason for the delay in paying over the balance due to Mr. Tully, and when payment thereof will be made to him.

The Land Commission are not in a position to pay the balance outstanding in respect of this contract (made in April, 1936) until certain defects, to which the contractor's attention has been directed, have been remedied.
