Vol. 76 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Peat Fuel Development.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total amount of the repayable advances made in connection with peat fuel development work which were outstanding on the 31st March, 1939, and the total amount of such advances now outstanding; and if he will state the names of the companies and areas in respect of which the amounts were outstanding.

The total amount of the repayable advances (exclusive of interest) made in connection with peat fuel development work which were outstanding on 31st March, 1939, and which are still outstanding, is £209,310. The names of the companies and areas in respect of which the amounts were outstanding are:—Company—Turf Development Board, Ltd. Area—Clonsast, Lyracrompane, not assignable to any particular area (general development); Peat Fuel Company, Ltd. Area—Carbury.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, I should like to ask whether, in addition to that capital sum outstanding, there is any sum representing accumulated interest?

The Deputy will require to give notice of that question.
