Vol. 77 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplies of Hosiery Yarns.

asked the Minister for Supplies whether he is aware that, because of decisions taken in the normal country of supply, the hosiery industry has been informed that cross-bred yarns for the cheaper grades of hosiery will not in future be available, and whether, in view of the effect of this on the consumers of the cheaper grades of hosiery, he will endeavour to secure a supply of these yarns, if necessary by endeavouring to secure a modification of the decisions referred to.

I am aware of the position referred to by the Deputy, the effect of which on the. woollen and hosiery trades is at present being discussed with representatives of the manufacturers concerned.
