Vol. 77 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Assistance.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the closing down of certain Gárda stations, he will take steps to enable applicants for unemployment assistance, in the areas concerned, to prove unemployment otherwise than by attending at a Gárda station.

In the event of the closing of any Gárda stations suitable alternative arrangements will be made by which applicants who under existing conditions have their documentary evidence of unemployment certified at these stations will be enabled to prove their unemployment. Should any special difficulty present itself in any particular case or cases, the circumstances of each such case will receive consideration and the applicant will be notified of the procedure which he should follow for the purpose.
