Vol. 77 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Delivery of American Newspapers.

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defensive Measures whether he is aware that people in Dublin on the mailing list of the Gaelic American have not received copies of that paper subsequent to September 1st; whether he will state if any action has been taken to prevent its circulation in this country and, if so, whether he will state on what grounds a paper with a long record of friendship towards Ireland is refused circulation.

The answer to the first two parts of the Deputy's question is in the negative; the last part, therefore, does not arise. I wish to point out to the Deputy, however, that all newspapers have been somewhat delayed by the operation of censorship, but apart from this the mails, including those containing newspapers and periodicals, have been irregular since the outbreak of war. They were particularly so during the month of September.
