Vol. 77 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gárda Síochána Rent Allowance Order.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is now in a position to indicate when the proposed amending Rent Allowance Order for the Gárda Síochána will be promulgated.

Mr. Boland

I have met a deputation from the representative bodies of the Gárda Síochána and explained to them the present position. Some details have yet to be settled but I hope that the making of the necessary order will not be long delayed.

Is the Minister aware that he stated on the 18th ultimo that he was looking into the matter, and hoped to be able to make a definite statement within a month and, as the month will be up in three days' time, can he now indicate when he will be able to do so?

Mr. Boland

I wonder if the Deputy heard the answer.

I am asking for something a little more definite, seeing that a statement was promised nearly a month ago. Will we have a statement in a week or fortnight?

We will have it in the same time that it took to build the Pearse Street Office.

Mr. Boland

As soon as possible.
