Vol. 78 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Scariff District Hospital.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware of the present dilapidated condition of the Scariff District Hospital, County Clare; and whether in view of the seriousness of the present position, and the useful functions performed by this hospital, he will take steps to convey immediate sanction for the scheme for repairs and improvements sought over the past ten years by the Clare Board of Health.

I am aware that the building is not in a satisfactory condition. The question of repairs has to be considered before any internal reconstruction of the building can be undertaken. Both matters are being investigated and I expect to be in a position to communicate a decision to the board of health and public assistance before the end of March.
