Vol. 80 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Creamery.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that only 13 suppliers of milk transferred their supply from the Cork and Kerry creamery, Kilbrittain, to the recently erected branch of the Barryroe creamery in Kilbrittain, and whether, in view of this position, the licensing and registration of a creamery serving such little purpose in the district will be continued.

The separating station was established to serve the needs of the district and not for the purpose of getting milk transferred from other premises. The creamery is established less than a fortnight and is receiving a supply which augurs well for its future.

Do I understand the Minister to say that the purpose of erecting the creamery was not to wipe out another creamery?

No, to serve the district.

Will the Minister relate that to his statement in the Dáil that the only alternative was to fight these people and crush them out of existence? Does the Minister recall that statement?

That is quoting the statement in a very different context.

On the very same subject.
