Vol. 81 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Division of Land.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when it is intended to divide the Gannon estate at Laragh, Kilcock, County Kildare.

The Land Commission have already divided portion of the Gannon estate. It is not possible at present to state when the remainder of the lands will be allotted.

What is the difficulty? There are large numbers of uneconomic holders in the area.

The matter has to be further examined.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission propose to divide the Coates' lands at Ovidstown, Kilcock, County Kildare.

The Land Commission have already divided portion of the Coates estate. It is not possible at present to state when the remainder of the lands will be allotted.

Can the Minister say if they will be allotted within the next six months, or is it intended to carry this matter over to the following year?

I cannot answer that question.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission propose to divide the Thorpe estate at Graigue, Kilcock, County Kildare.

The Land Commission have already divided portion of the resumed holding of M. and F. Thorpe, in the townlands of Clonduff and Graiguepottle. It is not possible at present to state when the remainder of the lands will be allotted.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that acute congestion exists in the townlands of Clooncara, Icelaun, Crenane, and Rageralish, Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon, and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Land Commission to acquire, for the relief of the existing congestion, the lands known as Brooklaun farm, formerly held by the Misses Agnes and Teresa Jordan (Record No. V4688), and now let for grazing by Mr. John Gallagher.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to his previous question of 8th November, 1939, in regard to these lands. I have nothing at present to add to that reply.
