Vol. 81 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fermoy Urban Council Grant.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health why the grant of £2,500 allotted to Fermoy Urban District Council was transferred to Cork County Council, and if, in view of the large amount of anemploymenfc in that town, he will have his grant transferred to the original grantee or another grant allotted in its stead.

The scheme of road works submitted by the Fermoy Urban District Courcil as not regarded as essential, and as there were other suitable road works in the vicinity of the town of a more useful character the allocation was accordingly transferred to the Cork County Council for road works in or adjacent to thr urban district. The transfer of the allocation is subject to the condition that labour will be recruited from the urban panel, and does not, therefore, affect the unemployed resident in the urban district.
