Vol. 81 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conditions of Employment Act.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the provisions of the Conditions of Employment Act are not being enjoined in the case of local operators and area electricians employed by the Electricity Supply Board, and if he will take the necessary steps to see that such employees are accorded the benefit of the Act, in the matter of hours, half-holidays, etc.

By exclusion regulations made on the 29th May, 1936, the Electricity Supply Board, in common with other electricity undertakings, were exempted from certain of the obligations imposed on employers generally by the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936. Such provisions of the Act as do apply to the board's employees are, so far as I am aware, being observed by the board.
