Vol. 81 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Landlord and Tenant Tribunal.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he will require the personnel of the Landlord and Tenant Inquiry Tribunal to furnish their report before January 15th, 1941, or turn over the minutes of evidence taken by them to others for immediate report.

I have been informed by the chairman of the tribunal that the report will be furnished before the date mentioned in the question.

Is the Minister aware that such undertakings have been repeatedly given before?

Mr. Boland

Never by me.

My recollection is that undertakings were given before; but if the undertaking on this occasion is not honoured, would the Minister consider my proposal to take the matter out of the hands of this commission?

Mr. Boland

I could not undertake to do that. We shall "wait and see."

Very well. We will let it rest at that.

Could the Minister give us the date on which the Landlord and Tenant Inquiry Tribunal concluded the hearing of evidence? I would further like to know from the Minister if he can state whether ground rents, or the ground rent system concerning which he gave a public promise to introduce amending legislation on the completion and promulgation of this report, actually came within the terms of reference of the tribunal?

Mr. Boland

These are separate questions of which I should require notice.
