Vol. 82 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Precautions Against Food Scarcity.

asked the Minister for Agriculture what steps he proposes to take to ensure that, in the event of a serious scarcity of home-grown food, adequate stocks of these foodstuffs will be set apart for use as seed so that the potential production in 1942 may not be placed in jeopardy in order to overcome a relatively small scarcity in 1941.

Some preliminary consideration has already been given to this matter. There are, however, factors which have or may have a more or less direct bearing on it, but which are not as yet definite and will so remain for some months. In the meantime, no decision can be reached as to the steps to be taken in order to achieve the object to which the Deputy refers.
