The total average weekly contribution per head for the year 1939-40 was 16/11 for reformatory schools and 11/6 for industrial schools. The figures for the year 1940-41 are not yet available. The figures given represent the total average expenditure for all purposes, including education. No information is available as to what proportion of this expenditure is devoted to maintenance as distinct from other charges.
