Vol. 83 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Finishing of Main Roads.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether in view of the fact that owing to the shortage of petrol the ordinary transport business of the people cannot be carried on as usual by motor power, and that owing to the slippery condition of the roads in County Cavan this power cannot be replaced by horses, he will take steps to see that the main roads there are finished off in such a manner that they will be serviceable for use by horses and other animals.

The Deputy has on several occasions referred in this House to the slippery conditions of roads in County Cavan. From inquiries made by my Department, I understand that every effort has been made to meet objections of this kind, possibly not with complete success. There is very little complaint of this kind from other parts of the country. I will bring the Deputy's representations before the Cavan County Council.
