Vol. 83 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - British Railway Company Employees in Éire.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that by virtue of a Railway Wages Board determination made subsequent to May 7th last upwards of 800 workers employed in Ireland by British railway companies would, but for the operation of the Emergency Powers (No. 83) Order, have received in recent weeks substantial advances in their wages with retrospective effect to January 6th, 1941; and, if so, whether he is prepared to modify the order so as to enable the payment in this country by extern employers of any increases in wages to which their Irish workers employed in Ireland may be entitled.

This matter requires more consideration than the time available has allowed, and I would be glad if the Deputy would repeat the question in a week's time.
