Vol. 83 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Defence Forces Regulations.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has made any regulation or regulations under sub-section (2) or sub-section (4) of Section 57 of the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) (No. 2) Act, 1940, and, if so, whether he will state the date or dates on which such regulation or regulations were made.

The power to make regulations under the sub-sections quoted in the question is permissive and is generally for the purpose of remedying difficulties and differences arising out of a failure by the parties themselves to agree upon necessary adjustments. No case has come to my notice which would call for the making of such regulations and none have in fact been made. If the Deputy is aware of instances of the kind I will be prepared to consider them if he will furnish me with particulars.
