Vol. 83 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages for Turf Cutting.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether rates of wages have been fixed or prescribed by his Department for the various operations concerned with the cutting and saving of turf and, if so, whether he will state what these rates are.

Rates of wages have not been fixed or prescribed by my Department for the various operations concerned with the cutting and saving of turf.

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply, does he know anything about the conditions prescribed for the Minister for Local Government and Public Health for the turf workers in County Donegal?

The "mist that does be on the bog" seems to have clouded Deputy Davin's intellect if he cannot decide which Department to consult on these matters.

It is no harm to compare notes.
