Vol. 83 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Raspberry Jam.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will ensure that the price charged this year by jam manufacturers for raspberry jam will be commensurate with that paid for the fruit to growers of raspberries.

The price of raspberry jam in common with the prices of other jams is the subject of review from time to time in my Department. Any adjustment which has been made in the price of this commodity since September, 1939, has received my sanction only after a close examination of the costs of production. The Deputy will appreciate, therefore, that the cost of raspberries to the jam manufacturers is a factor which is taken into consideration by my Department when the price of this jam is being reviewed.
