Vol. 84 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prices of Cereals.

andCurran asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the fact that he has informed the House that it is his intention to fix the prices of cereals this year prior to the harvest, he will do so immediately in order to give Dáil Eireann an opportunity of discussing them before the adjournment.

I am not, as yet, in a position to announce fixed prices for cereals of this year's harvest. I expect, however, to make such announcement before the adjournment.

Will the House get an opportunity to discuss it?

I do not know that. I cannot speak for the time of the House, but I have no objection anyway.

What is prompting the Minister to fix a price?

The interests of the producers.

I am sure it is. We will see that when the time comes.

The Deputy cannot imagine anybody being interested in the producers.
