Vol. 84 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pensions for Electricity Supply Board's Employees.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is in a position to announce the date of the introduction of proposals for legislation to enable pensions to be provided for employees of the Electricity Supply Board.

As indicated in a reply to a similar question by the Deputy on the 4th June last, I had hoped to be in a position to introduce proposals for the legislation referred to before the House adjourns for the Summer Recess, but owing to the demands made upon my time in connection with the proceedings in the House in relation to the Trade Union Bill, 1941, I have been unable to complete the consideration of a measure which, from the consumers' point of view, may be equally contentious.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary inform the Minister for Industry and Commerce that the demands on his time were due to his irresponsible and thoughtless speeches in this House, and would he suggest to him that in future he ought to avoid similar waste of public time?
