Vol. 236 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

42.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in the group water scheme for Seskin, Portarlington, Laois, as interested parties subscribed to this scheme two years ago; and if he will now take steps so that the work may be undertaken without further delay.

Design plans for this scheme were received in my Department from the group in July last. The type of piping to be used in this scheme has since been the subject of discussions between officers of my Department and Laois County Council. Agreement has recently been reached in this matter and the group have been advised to obtain quotations for the work and materials required.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government what steps are being taken to provide water and sewerage for the village of Ballintogher, County Sligo.

On the latest information available to me the local authority do not regard the schemes referred to by the Deputy as having a high priority in their water and sewerage programme.
