Vol. 84 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Paper Scarcity.

asked the Minister for Finance whether in view of the shortage of paper he will authorise the Departments to examine the accumulation of old records which have now little or no value, with a view to making such papers, books, etc., available for conversion into paper for future use.

An examination of the kind which the Deputy has in mind has, in fact, taken place, and it is my intention to instruct Departments to transfer to the Stationery Office, with a view to their conversion into paper, certain specified types of documents, the preservation of which is not dictated by administrative, legal, historical or other needs.
