Vol. 85 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commodity Price Lists.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will consider the question of issuing to all Gárda Síochána Stations an up-to-date list of the maximum prices fixed by his Department for various commodities so that this information may be available to the local residents who desire to obtain information on the subject, or who desire to report incidents of overcharging to his Department.

An up-to-date list of maximum prices fixed by the Department for various commodities, such as that to which the Deputy refers, has been published from time to time since the 30th August in the morning newspapers and in most of the provincial papers, and the public have been asked to retain the published statement for reference. Members of the public who desire to obtain information on this subject, or to report incidents of overcharging to my Department, should have no difficulty in obtaining any information they may want and I am not aware of any case in which any member of the public approached the Gárda Síochána without success.

I do not think the course suggested by the Deputy is likely to have any material effect, but the cost involved is comparatively small and I am prepared to adopt the suggestion.
