Vol. 85 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Control of Mining Rights.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state if it is his intention soon to give effect to the recommendation contained in paragraph 9 of the findings of the committee appointed to inquire into the demise of certain State mining rights in County Wicklow and so ensure that more rigid control is exercised by the State over leases issued by it in respect of mining rights so as to provide safeguards against company promoting, share pushing and gambling in shares all of a dubious character.

In the preparation of leases under the Minerals Development Act due regard is had to the recommendations made by the Select Committee on the Demise of State Mining Rights in paragraph 9 of their findings.
