Vol. 85 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Mayo Flooding.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the periodic flooding of the Clare-Dalgan River in South Mayo causes considerable losses to the farmers along that river, and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Commissioners of Public Works to proceed with the preparation of a scheme for the drainage of that river.

The Deputy is referred to the reply given to him in the Dáil on 1st July, 1941.

Is the Minister aware that over 4,000 acres of arable land are being flooded in consequence of the flooding of this river? The Government should see if there is any possibility of preparing some sort of drainage scheme to relieve the people in that district.
