Written Answers. - Gaeltacht Order.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state in respect of each county, and in respect of each class of office affected by the operation of the Gaeltacht order, the number of persons holding positions subject to the order who have not yet attained the necessary qualifications in Irish and who have so held their positions for (a) under one year; (b) one year but less than two; (c) two years but less than three; (d) three years but less than four; (e) four years but less than five; (f) five years but less than six; (g) six years but less than seven; (h) seven years but less than eight; (i) eight years but less than nine; (j) nine years but less than ten; (k) ten years and over.

The information required is being compiled and will be sent to the Deputy when completed.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state in respect of each county, and in respect of each class of office affected by the operation of the Gaeltacht order, the number of persons who, during the last ten years, have been confirmed in their appointment, without having attained the necessary qualifications in Irish.

During the past ten years there were no persons appointed subject to the Gaeltacht Orders by local authorities within the jurisdiction of my Department who were confirmed in their appointments without having attained the necessary qualification in Irish.
