Vol. 85 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Whiskey.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state whether any representations have been made to him on behalf of spirit retailers or wholesalers against the export of the whiskey of an Irish whiskey distillery company in liquidation, and whether he has been requested to limit the export so as to have sufficient supplies for Irish customers of the said distillery.

I assume the Deputy refers to the Dublin Distillers Company, Ltd. The answer to both parts of the question is in the affirmative. I have fully considered all the representations made to me in this connection, and have permitted this company, now in liquidation, to export such quantities of whiskey as they may be able to dispose of to persons outside this country.
