Vol. 86 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that great dissatisfaction exists in County Limerick amongst the rank and file of the Old I.R.A. because of the manner in which the Military Service Pensions Acts have been operated; whether any representations have been made to him in the matter and if he will state what action he proposes to take to expedite the determination of claims and the payment of pensions to members of the Old I.R.A.

I am aware of the dissatisfaction referred to by the Deputy in the case of the County Limerick Old I.R.A. applicants, and representations in that respect have reached me. Decisions in regard to applications are, however, solely a matter for the Referee who has taken action with a view to expediting decisions in regard to military service pension claims from County Limerick.
