Vol. 86 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Supply for Dublin.

asked the Minister for Supplies what steps he has taken or proposes to take in view of transport difficulties and a possible shortage of supplies to secure an adequate milk supply for the City of Dublin and its equitable distribution at reasonable prices.

The Department of Supplies is primarily responsible for the regulation of the distribution and use of commodities in short supply. In the case of commodities of which there is normally a surplus, and where their regular distribution is disturbed by causes other than scarcity, departmental responsibility is determined by the nature of such causes. The matter of the supply of milk for the City of Dublin, in view of the transport difficulties, is at present the subject of examination by the Departments concerned.
