Vol. 86 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Complaint of Overcharging.

asked the Minister for Supplies whether he has received a complaint from Mr. L. Nolan, St. Fiaac's, Graiguecullen, Carlow, regarding overcharging for flake oatmeal, and if he will state what action he has taken on the complaint and evidence submitted.

The complaint in question was received in my Department but it was not found possible to institute legal proceedings under the law as it stood at the date of the incident to which the complaint referred. The legal difficulties which prevented prosecution in this particular case have since been overcome by an amending Order which I made shortly afterwards, but, of course, the amending Order was effective only as from the date on which it was made.

When was the amending order made?

I answered that question already—shortly after the date of the incident to which the Deputy refers in his question.
