Vol. 87 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Travelling Creameries.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the little extra cost involved and the great advantage that would accrue to milk producers in the area, he will consider extending the benefits of the travelling creamery system in Béara, so as to include the farmers in the parish of Glengariff.

The district round Glengariff has been surveyed on several occasions, but it has been found that the quantity of milk available is too small to warrant its collection by travelling creamery.

Has the Minister any idea of the extra distance that would be involved in reaching Glengariff?

I am not able to say, but I know that the existing travelling creamery could not cover Glengariff.

Has the Minister any hope of being able to increase the number of vehicles there?

That cannot be done at present.
