Vol. 88 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Asbestos Slates.

Mr. Flynn

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware that applicants for housing grants in South Kerry can not obtain asbestos slates; and if he will take steps to allocate portion of the stocks held by the Department of Defence, the Land Commission, and the Board of Works to the applicants concerned.

Supplies of asbestos slates are very limited, but the applicants for housing grants to whom the Deputy refers should be able to obtain other roofing materials of which adequate quantities are available. No part of the small stocks of asbestos slates held by the Departments mentioned can be allocated in the manner suggested by the Deputy.
