Vol. 88 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Food Supplies During Harvesting.

asked the Minister for Supplies if it will be possible for him to devise a scheme whereby extra supplies of tea, sugar and butter will be granted to farmers and farm workers engaged in harvesting and threshing operations.

I regret that the limited supplies of tea and sugar available do not permit me to introduce a scheme providing for additional supplies of tea and sugar to farmers and farm workers engaged in harvesting and threshing operations. I have had no representations that it is necessary to make provision for extra supplies of butter for these workers; but in any event it would be administratively impracticable to make special arrangements for particular classes such as farmers and farm workers.
