Vol. 88 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Stout and Porter.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will arrange to have the export of stout and porter supplies curtailed with a view to increasing present supplies to home traders.

Until the yield of barley from the harvest has been definitely ascertained it is not possible to state the quantity of stout and porter which will be available during the coming season for export and for home consumption. The quantity, however, which may be reserved for home consumption depends upon a number of considerations and in particular on the extent to which it may be necessary in existing circumstances to maintain an export trade. At present normal supplies for the home trade are available.
