Vol. 88 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bacon Exports.

Mr. Kelly

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether permits have been issued for the export of bacon to Great Britain or Northern Ireland since the export restrictions in 1941; and if permits have been issued to private individuals to export small quantities of bacon to friends, since July, 1942.

Exports of bacon to Great Britain and Northern Ireland ceased in September, 1941, and to the Isle of Man in June, 1942. Permits were issued to private individuals for the export of small quantities of bacon as gifts up to July, 1942, the total of which was less than 1 cwt. per month. Since then permits have been given in exceptional cases only, the total amounting to less than 10 lb. per month.
