Vol. 88 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Assistance in Connemara.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, during the last six months, intimation was given to applicants for unemployment assistance in Connemara area that they would not be entitled to receive unemployment assistance unless they work at least four months on the bogs in County Kildare; and, if so, whether he will state under what authority such intimation was given.

No intimation of the nature indicated by the Deputy's question was, at any time, conveyed by officers of my Department to applicants for unemployment assistance in Connemara or in any other area.

May I take it, therefore, that any allegation of the kind in the Connemara area is completely without foundation?

Completely without foundation.
