Vol. 89 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Bog.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware, through reports received by his Department, of the bad condition of the passage leading to Mr. J. Kingston's bog at Carrigbawn, Drinagh, Dunmanway; and, if so, if he will take steps to have this passage reconditioned before the next turf season.

According to the report available to me the road in question has no exceptional merit from the point of view of turf production. The unemployment position in the electoral division of Carrigbawn in which the work is situated does not warrant the allocation of a grant from the Employment Scheme Vote.

Of course the Parliamentary Secretary is aware from his reports that this road is almost impassable, and that there is very valuable turbary at the end of the road, which it is impossible to get at the moment?

From the reports at my disposal, this road has no exceptional merit from the point of view of turf production. If the Deputy thinks he can add anything to the information which is in my office let him come along, and I shall be delighted to see what can be done. That is the place to make representations.
