Vol. 89 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Vesting of Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the reps. Forbes estate was vested in the Land Commission on the 15th October, 1937, that the vendors have waited for nearly six years for a visit of an inspector, which visit would have enabled the holding to be vested in the tenant, and free the guarantee deposit; and whether he will state if this excessive delay is due to an oversight or to the transfer of the staff to other Departments for the emergency.

With their present depleted staff the Land Commission are unable to keep all the aspects of their work up to date, but every effort is made to deal with urgent cases. As regards the holding in question, a vesting order has been prepared and will be published at an early date. When the vesting order has been published and the time for objecting thereto has expired the matter of obtaining an order for the release of the guarantee deposit will be dealt with without delay.
