Vol. 89 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Permit and Petrol Allowance for County Dublin Lorry.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware that Messrs. Edward and Christopher Connor of Killalane, Balbriggan, County Dublin, have not yet received a permit and petrol allowance in respect of their lorry Y.I.9304 for the month of February, and that three members of the Connor family have been utilising this vehicle in connection with their business as farmers for the past five years, and, further, if he will state the reason for the delay, and when the permit and petrol allowance will be issued to Messrs. Connor.

I am aware that a permit and petrol allowance have not been granted for the month of February in respect of lorry Y.I.9304, registered in the names of Edward and Christopher Connor, Killalane, Balbriggan, County Dublin. This is the lorry to which, I presume, the Deputy refers. The issue of a permit in this case has been discontinued in pursuance of the general policy of my Department in the withdrawal from use of commercial goods vehicles engaged in services not considered essential, or where alternative means of transport are available. I regret that it is not possible to authorise the issue of a permit in respect of this vehicle.
